Zeekr, the premium electric vehicle (EV) subsidiary of Geely Holding Group, officially entered the Australian automotive market on October 15, unveiling the Zeekr X city SUV. This expansion marks a significant milestone for the company, as it broadens its presence in the Oceania region.
Connal Yan, managing director of Zeekr Australia, emphasized the importance of this launch, stating, “This marks a new chapter in Zeekr’s journey, with the company’s EVs now available directly through dealers and previewed at pop-up locations across Australia.” The Zeekr X was first introduced in China on April 12, 2023, with subsequent versions launched in January and July of this year.
In addition to the Zeekr X, the company also showcased the Zeekr 009 multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) in Australia. Originally launched in China on November 1, 2022, the Zeekr 009 began deliveries in February 2023 and has since seen updates and the introduction of its right-hand drive version in Hong Kong.
Zeekr is selling its vehicles through official dealers in Australia, including Autoleague, John McGrath, and Stillwell Motor Group. The company plans to further expand its dealer network in the coming weeks. Additionally, it intends to establish pop-up stores in major Australian shopping centers in the fourth quarter, aimed at enhancing customer accessibility to its vehicles.
Since its entry into the European market in June 2023, Zeekr has been actively expanding its international footprint, with a goal to cover 50 global markets by 2024. Chan Yu, Zeekr’s vice president, noted this ambition during the launch of the right-hand drive version of the Zeekr X, highlighting the company’s strategic growth in various regions, including Europe, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia.
