Xpeng is shifting focus to its new flagship sedan, the P7+, following the launch of the M03, the first model from the Mona lineup. Xpeng’s chairman and CEO, He Xiaopeng, hinted at the upcoming reveal in a Weibo post, suggesting that the P7+ will be officially unveiled in October.
Xpeng’s highly anticipated annual 1024 Tech Day event is scheduled for October 24, where the P7+ is expected to take center stage. Prior to that, the Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker will attend the Paris Auto Show from October 14-20, marking the P7+’s international debut.
The P7+, internally codenamed F57, will adopt a vision-only smart driving system, forgoing LiDAR, in a strategy similar to Tesla’s approach. Last week, He Xiaopeng made a public appearance at Alibaba’s Apsara Conference in a lightly camouflaged P7+, giving the public its first real-life glimpse of the new model. Xpeng has described the P7+ as the world’s first AI-powered car, with a particular emphasis on its spacious interior, which has led some to dub it a “space monster.”
The new P7+ measures 5,056 mm in length, 1,937 mm in width, and 1,512 mm in height, with a 3,000 mm wheelbase, making it significantly larger than its predecessor, the P7i. This size increase and its AI-driven features are expected to make the P7+ a milestone product, further driving the adoption of intelligent driving technology in China.
In addition, Xpeng will host a new product launch event for the X9 MPV today, although further details have not yet been disclosed. The X9, which launched earlier this year, is the highest-priced model in Xpeng’s lineup, starting at RMB 359,800 (approximately $51,260).
