Xpeng said that its extended-range X9 MPV will officially debut, coinciding with the company’s 2025 AI Day event expected on November 5. The new model will be the automaker’s first multi-purpose vehicle equipped with its proprietary Kunpeng Super Electric System.

The X9 extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) will feature a combined CLTC range of 1,602 kilometres, which Xpeng says is the longest among large seven-seater hybrids globally. The model includes a 63.3-kWh battery pack and a 60-litre fuel tank, providing 452 kilometres of pure electric range.

Xpeng highlighted that the X9 EREV is equipped with three self-developed Turing AI driving chips and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P cockpit processor, delivering 2,250 TOPS of total computing power — the equivalent of nine Nvidia Orin-X chips. The system underpins the vehicle’s advanced autonomous driving and intelligent cockpit functions.

Initially launched as a pure electric model on January 1, 2024, the X9 is Xpeng’s most premium vehicle, starting at RMB 359,800 ($50,610) in China. The EREV version, listed in a recent regulatory filing, measures 5,316 mm in length, 1,988 mm in width, and 1,785 mm in height, with a 3,160 mm wheelbase. Xpeng has also filed for extended-range versions of its G7 SUV, G6 SUV, and P7+ sedan, signalling a broader shift toward hybrid architecture within its future lineup.
