Xpeng has started local electric vehicle (EV) production in Europe as part of its ongoing international expansion, with its first models assembled at the Magna plant in Graz, Austria.
The Chinese automaker said the first G6 and G9 sport utility vehicles (SUVs) produced at the facility have rolled off the assembly line. Additional models are expected to follow, broadening the company’s regional product portfolio.

The Austria project marks Xpeng’s second overseas manufacturing site after the opening of its Indonesian facility in July. The company has said it intends to expand into more than 60 countries and regions this year and targets 50% of sales from overseas markets within the next decade. Xpeng currently operates in over 30 international markets.
Xpeng previously opened its first European R&D center in Munich, Germany, its ninth worldwide and part of a network that includes sites in Silicon Valley and San Diego. The Munich hub is aimed at adapting products to European standards and customer needs.

Alongside localized production, Xpeng plans to introduce its more affordable Mona series to Europe starting in 2026, targeting a competitive segment of the EV market. The expansion strategy reflects intensifying competition among Chinese and global automakers seeking to secure market share in Europe’s rapidly growing EV sector.
