XPeng announced that it delivered 6,010 vehicles in February, marking a 15.18% increase from 5,218 in January and a 3.45% decrease from 6,225 in the same month last year. While last year’s Chinese New Year fell in February, this year’s holiday occurred in January, which had an impact on deliveries. As of the end of February, XPeng’s total deliveries since its inception reached 269,938 vehicles.
To stay ahead of the competition, XPeng is rolling out advanced driver assistance features, starting with its City NGP technology in March. The feature will be introduced in several cities, including Shenzhen and Shanghai.

The EV maker experienced declining sales in the second half of 2022, with its lowest point of 5,101 units delivered in October. XPeng has made organizational changes in response to these setbacks, including appointing Wang Fengying, former president of Great Wall Motor, as its new president. Ms. Wang will oversee product planning, product portfolio management, and sales operations, reporting to XPeng’s CEO He Xiaopeng.
XPeng has also made pricing changes to its vehicles. In January, the company reduced the prices of all its models except the flagship SUV G9, and scaled down the number of versions offered for each model. The price cuts ranged from RMB 20,000 to 36,000, with the flagship sedan P7 receiving the largest cut. As a result, five versions of the XPeng P7 are no longer available, and the number of versions for sale has been reduced to four. Similarly, all available versions of the XPeng P5 sedan were reduced by RMB 23,000. The XPeng G3i SUV was also reduced by one version, and the prices of the three available versions were cut by up to RMB 25,000.

On a more positive note, XPeng launched its new P7 and G9 models in the European market on February 3, with deliveries scheduled to begin in June and September, respectively.
XPeng’s recent delivery figures and organizational changes suggest that the company is taking proactive steps to stay competitive in the rapidly-evolving EV market. With its new advanced driver assistance features and pricing changes, the company aims to keep its vehicles attractive to consumers, while its leadership changes suggest a willingness to adapt to market challenges. The launch of new models in Europe also underscores XPeng’s global ambitions, as it seeks to expand beyond its domestic market.
