Chinese electric vehicle (EV) startup XPeng has taken a significant step in addressing the challenge of providing a localized infotainment system for its entry into the European market. The company has chosen to collaborate with ACCESS Twine for Car (Twine4Car), a supplier that offers a proven solution to meet the needs of local consumers.
XPeng plans to equip its new range of electric vehicles, including the highly anticipated XPeng P7 sedan, with the ACCESS Twine4Car in-car infotainment solution. The European deliveries of the P7 sedan are scheduled to commence this summer, marking the initial implementation of this collaboration.
Moreover, existing XPeng owners will have the option to upgrade their vehicles through an over-the-air (OTA) software update, which will integrate ACCESS’ Twine4Car into their cars.
After slowing down its international expansion efforts last year, XPeng has made a strong push into overseas markets in 2023. The company announced the introduction of its two latest EV models, the G9 flagship SUV and the new P7 sports sedan, to the European market on February 3. Customers in Denmark, Norway, the Netherlands, and Sweden were given the opportunity to place orders for these vehicles.
XPeng’s chairman and CEO, He Xiaopeng, recently revealed plans for “version 2.0” of the company’s overseas market strategy. This next phase will commence in the third quarter with the delivery of the P7 and G9 models, and will be followed by an accelerated expansion into more countries.
XPeng aims to differentiate itself by offering high-quality, high-tech vehicles to international markets, with the goal of establishing Chinese brand vehicles as a prominent presence worldwide.
According to XPeng, the Twine4Car platform is a leading solution in the automotive industry for connected car infotainment, enabling car manufacturers to provide branded entertainment services. The platform offers a wide range of apps and games through its app store, including popular streaming services and console-grade games with high-compression streaming technology.
Eric Xu, the vice president of international markets at XPeng, expressed the company’s rationale for selecting ACCESS Twine4Car as its in-vehicle infotainment provider. He emphasized that XPeng strives to create a mobility experience that is not only physically satisfying but also emotionally engaging. The partnership with ACCESS Twine4Car will contribute to XPeng’s goal of providing European drivers with a more intuitive and enjoyable driving experience.
Masahiro Aono, CEO of ACCESS Europe, shared his enthusiasm for the collaboration, highlighting the potential to deliver connected infotainment experiences that match the excellence and sophistication of XPeng’s electric vehicles. The Twine4Car platform acts as a central hub, consolidating a diverse range of content from global media partners, including apps, TV services, games, and video-on-demand offerings.
As XPeng prepares to enter the European market, this strategic partnership with ACCESS Twine4Car demonstrates the company’s commitment to delivering cutting-edge technology and enhancing the overall driving experience for European customers. The collaboration is poised to shape the future of in-car infotainment, creating a seamless fusion of automotive and digital entertainment for XPeng’s expanding customer base in Europe.
