Xpeng has officially launched its flagship X9 electric MPV in seven European countries, marking a major step in the Chinese automaker’s international expansion strategy.
The premium electric people mover is now available in Germany, Finland, Norway, Iceland, Croatia, Slovenia and Hungary, with customer deliveries already underway in several markets.
According to Xpeng, some of the first European deliveries have already taken place in Norway, while deliveries in Germany are expected to begin this month following the vehicle’s market launch in May.
Flagship MPV Targets European Families
Originally introduced in China in late 2023, the X9 is the seventh model in Xpeng’s lineup and the first vehicle in its X-series family.
The model combines a spacious multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) design with advanced electric vehicle technologies, positioning it as a premium family and executive transport solution.
Built on an 800-volt electrical architecture, the X9 features 5C ultra-fast charging capability and rear-wheel steering, technologies intended to enhance both charging convenience and maneuverability.
Three Versions Available
European customers can choose from three powertrain configurations.
The entry-level X9 FWD Standard Range is equipped with a 94.8-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery and a 235-kW front-wheel-drive powertrain, offering a WLTP range of up to 535 kilometers. Pricing starts at €77,600.
The X9 FWD Long Range pairs the same 235-kW front-wheel-drive system with a larger 110-kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery, increasing WLTP range to as much as 615 kilometers. Prices begin at €81,600.
The flagship X9 AWD Performance uses the 110-kWh battery and a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system producing 370 kW. The model delivers a WLTP range of up to 580 kilometers and starts at €86,600.
Ultra-Fast Charging Capability
One of the vehicle’s standout features is its charging performance.
The smaller battery version supports charging rates of up to 537 kW, while the larger battery can accept up to 542 kW under optimal conditions.
According to Xpeng, the X9 can recharge from 10% to 80% battery capacity in approximately 12 minutes when connected to compatible ultra-fast charging infrastructure.
A 20% to 80% charging session can reportedly be completed in around 10 minutes.
For home charging, the vehicle supports 11-kW AC charging.
Premium Interior and Technology
The X9 offers a wide range of comfort and technology features designed to appeal to family and business users.
Standard equipment includes 20-inch alloy wheels, a 27-speaker premium audio system, intelligent navigation and multi-zone climate control with air purification.
A heat pump system is fitted as standard to improve cabin efficiency and maximize driving range in varying weather conditions.
Inside the cabin, occupants benefit from a digital instrument display, a 17.3-inch central touchscreen, a 21-inch head-up display and a 21.4-inch Ultra-3K rear entertainment screen mounted in the roof.
Designed for Urban Maneuverability
Despite its large dimensions, Xpeng says the X9 delivers a turning circle of just 10.8 meters, comparable to many compact passenger cars.
Rear-wheel steering, intelligent parking assistance, a 360-degree camera system and a transparent chassis visualization feature are intended to simplify maneuvering in urban environments.
Supporting International Growth
The European launch comes as Xpeng’s overseas business continues to expand rapidly.
According to company figures, Xpeng exported a record 6,503 vehicles in May, representing an 80.4% increase compared with the same period last year.
International sales accounted for more than 20% of the company’s total deliveries during the month, highlighting the growing importance of overseas markets to Xpeng’s global growth strategy.
With the introduction of the X9, the automaker is expanding beyond traditional SUV and sedan segments while strengthening its presence in the premium electric vehicle market across Europe.
