Xpeng Motors has officially launched its 2025 X9 electric MPV, bringing significant updates to the model. The new version follows a pre-sale period that started on April 8, with the official launch price set at 359,800 yuan ($49,900), which is the same as the 2024 model despite a pre-sale price increase of 40,000 yuan ($5,300).

A key feature of the 2025 X9 is its redesigned interior, which includes 3.2 square meters of added soft-touch materials, increasing the total coverage to 26.6 square meters. The cabin now boasts higher-quality finishes with vacuum-coated buttons and trim pieces. One of the standout updates is the introduction of Zero-Gravity seats in the first and second rows, which are designed to reduce pressure on the hips, joints, and spine, providing greater comfort for passengers.

Xpeng has also focused on improving accessibility and the usability of the third row, often a challenge in MPVs. The integration of the central aisle with the second-row seating makes it easier for passengers to access the third row, which now includes adjustable electric backrests and headrests, and can fold completely flat to increase space.

The 2025 X9 also includes several technological upgrades, with the Turing AI Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) now standard across all models. This system is complemented by a new visual indicator, designed to enhance the user experience and improve communication of system operations. Additionally, the rear entertainment system features a 21.4-inch screen, certified to reduce blue light exposure, and includes new amenities like a karaoke system, a power outlet, and a refrigerator/warmer.

Driving dynamics have been improved with the inclusion of active rear-wheel steering, providing a class-leading turning radius of just 5.4 meters. Xpeng has also invested in noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) reduction, with over 58 improvements aimed at enhancing the overall driving experience.

The 2025 X9 is built on an 800V high-voltage platform and offers two battery options: a 105 kWh NMC lithium-ion battery and a 94.8 kWh LFP battery. New color options for the model include Nebula Purple, Galaxy Blue, and Matte Starship Gray, in addition to existing color choices. Optional 20-inch “Star Gaze” wheels with dynamic floating center caps are available.

Xpeng’s launch of the 2025 X9 reflects its strategy to capture a significant share of the premium electric MPV segment. With the growing shift in the Chinese market toward premium, family-oriented electric vehicles, the company aims to compete with both traditional internal combustion engine models and other electric vehicles from manufacturers like Denza, ZEEKR, and BYD. Xpeng sees its focus on intelligence and electric power as a key differentiator in this market, with plans to drive innovation beyond traditional feature stacking.
For owners of the previous X9 model, Xpeng has confirmed the availability of upgrades to key features, including the Zero-Gravity seats, sound insulation improvements, and the new AI ADAS system.
