Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Xpeng has filed for extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) versions of its G6 SUV and P7+ sedan, signaling its broader push into hybrid technology ahead of the official debut of its first EREV model.

The filings for the two new variants appear in the latest catalog of vehicles awaiting approval for sale, released by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) for public feedback between October 10 and 15. Inclusion in the catalog marks the final major regulatory step before a model can enter the Chinese market.

The G6 EREV, listed under model number NHQ6481SHEVFA, measures 4,771 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width, and 1,650 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,890 mm — slightly longer than its battery-electric counterpart. The vehicle weighs between 2,175 and 2,190 kilograms and can reach a top speed of 202 kilometers per hour. It is powered by a 1.5-liter range-extending engine supplied by Harbin Dongan Auto Engine, delivering a maximum output of 110 kW, and uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries from Eve Energy.

The P7+ EREV, listed as model number NHQ7150SHEVKA, is a larger sedan measuring 5,071 mm long, 1,937 mm wide, and 1,512 mm high, with a wheelbase of 3,000 mm. It shares the same powertrain and battery configuration as the G6 EREV, with a curb weight of 2,160 kg.

The company earlier said its X9 EREV model would debut in October, followed by the G7 EREV in the first quarter of next year. Xpeng has stated that the X9 EREV will offer a 450-kilometer battery range under China’s CLTC testing standard, while the G7 EREV will exceed 430 kilometers.

A domestic media report last month suggested that the P7+ EREV will launch in 2025, featuring 5C fast-charging batteries and a driving range of around 400 kilometers.
