A significant portion of May’s deliveries came from the Xpeng X9 MPV (multi-purpose vehicle), with 1,625 units delivered, bringing the cumulative deliveries of the X9 to 11,456 units. Launched on January 1, the X9 is Xpeng’s flagship model under the SEPA (Smart Electric Platform Architecture) 2.0.

The X9, a seven-seat MPV, has a starting price of RMB 359,800 ($49,680), with deliveries commencing on January 16.

In a notable event, Xpeng’s chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng personally delivered an X9 to William Li, founder, chairman, and CEO of Nio (NYSE: NIO), in Hefei, Anhui province, on May 11. This marked Li’s first purchase of a vehicle from another brand in eight years, highlighting the significance of the X9 in the market.
