Xpeng delivered 41,256 vehicles in September, bringing its third-quarter deliveries to a record level as the Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer met its previously issued quarterly guidance.

September deliveries declined 0.78% from a year earlier but increased 5.50% from August. The monthly total was Xpeng’s highest of the year, although it remained slightly below the 41,581 vehicles delivered in September of the previous year.

The September result also ended three consecutive months of year-on-year delivery growth recorded from June through August.

Xpeng Sets New Quarterly Delivery Record

Xpeng delivered 118,390 vehicles in the third quarter, an increase of 2.05% from the same period a year earlier and 14.61% from the second quarter.

The result surpassed Xpeng’s previous quarterly delivery record of 116,249 vehicles, set in the fourth quarter of the previous year.

Xpeng had guided for third-quarter deliveries of between 115,000 and 121,000 vehicles when it reported its second-quarter results on August 24. The actual result was slightly above the midpoint of the guidance range, which was 118,000 vehicles.

Nine-Month Deliveries Remain Below Last Year

Xpeng delivered 284,367 vehicles during the first nine months of the year, down 9.20% from the same period a year earlier.

The decline narrowed from 10.49% through the first eight months, although total deliveries remained below the previous year’s level following weaker volumes earlier in the year.

September’s increase in monthly deliveries and the record third-quarter result contributed to the improvement in Xpeng’s year-to-date performance.

Mona L03 and GX Support September Sales

Deliveries of the Mona L03 exceeded 10,000 vehicles in September. Xpeng said production capacity for the model continued to expand.

The Mona L03 has also been introduced in markets including Hong Kong, the Philippines, Australia and Indonesia, where deliveries have begun.

The GX flagship six-seat SUV recorded 7,224 deliveries during September. The model has exceeded 7,000 monthly deliveries for three consecutive months, supporting Xpeng’s sales of higher-end vehicles.

Xpeng Expands SUV Lineup With G9L

Xpeng launched the G9L flagship five-seat SUV in China on September 17. The model is positioned alongside the GX and is intended to address demand for both five-seat and six-seat family vehicles.

The G9L launched with a limited-time starting price of 231,800 yuan ($34,420). It is offered with both battery-electric and extended-range powertrains.

Xpeng plans to introduce the G9L to overseas markets, with an international launch scheduled for Paris in October.

The company said on September 11 that the first mass-produced right-hand-drive G9L vehicles had rolled off the production line and would be shipped to Australia as part of its international expansion.

Xpeng Targets More Than 60,000 Monthly Deliveries

Xpeng Chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng said during the company’s August earnings call that the company aims to exceed 60,000 monthly vehicle sales in the fourth quarter.

The target is expected to be supported by new models including the G9L and the Mona L05 SUV.

Reaching more than 60,000 monthly deliveries would represent an increase of about 45% from September’s total. The Mona L05 is scheduled to launch in China during the fourth quarter, further expanding Xpeng’s SUV range.
