Camouflaged prototypes of what appears to be a long-wheelbase version of Xiaomi’s SU7 electric sedan have been captured in spy photographs shared by automotive blogger @风清颂, fueling speculation the Chinese electronics group is preparing an executive-focused variant of its debut car.
The test vehicle, informally dubbed the “SU7 L,” retains the fastback profile of the standard SU7 but appears visibly stretched behind the B-pillar. Estimates suggest its overall length could extend to 5.2 metres, compared with the current 4,997 mm, with the wheelbase lengthened by 80–150 mm. The modification is expected to improve rear passenger space, a feature often prioritised in China’s executive car segment.
While heavily camouflaged, the prototype maintains the SU7’s wing-shaped front fascia and star-ring taillights. Analysts expect the longer model to differentiate itself with upgrades such as wider rear seating, higher-quality interior materials, and in-car amenities including entertainment screens or a refrigerator. Some industry comparisons have been drawn to the Porsche Panamera Executive, which places emphasis on second-row comfort.
The current SU7, launched this year as a mid-sized high-performance electric sedan, sits on an 800V high-voltage platform with a drag coefficient of 0.195. Xiaomi has not confirmed technical specifications for the new prototype, though any longer version would likely require retuned suspension to balance handling and ride quality. Market watchers suggest a potential launch around 2026, with pricing expected above 400,000 yuan ($55,800), placing it between the BYD Han L 4WD Flagship and Tesla’s Model S in the Chinese market.
