Xiaomi Set to Officially Launch SU7 at End of March, According to Report

Xiaomi is gearing up to unveil its first electric vehicle (EV) model, the SU7, with a launch event expected to take place at the end of this month, according to reports from local media outlet Lanjinger, citing inside sources.

The report suggests that deliveries of the Xiaomi SU7 could commence shortly after the official launch event.

Xiaomi announced its entry into car manufacturing on March 30, 2021, and introduced the SU7 on December 28, 2023. However, the price of the model has yet to be disclosed, and the official launch date is still pending.

Xiaomi Group President Lu Weibing hinted at an imminent official launch for the Xiaomi SU7, with domestic deliveries slated to kick off as early as the second quarter, CNBC reported on February 26.

A Zeekr executive, following the launch of Zeekr’s updated 001 model, mentioned in a media interview on February 27 that Xiaomi’s first EV model is expected to be officially launched on March 28.

Xiaomi later responded to this by saying that the exact launch date for the Xiaomi SU7 will be communicated through official channels.

Following the first batch of 2S (Sales & Service) stores embarking on renovations, Xiaomi’s first directly managed auto stores in Beijing have begun to be renovated, according to the report from Lanjinger today.

The start of renovations of the directly managed stores is an important signal that its pricing and deliveries will be revealed soon, Lanjinger said, citing an observer.

Unlike the direct-sales model used by China’s major new car makers, sales of the Xiaomi EV will include both directly managed stores and what it calls 2S authorized stores.

Xiaomi Group signed letters of intent with the first 14 sales and service partners on December 29 at its headquarters in Beijing, Lu said on January 2 on Weibo.
