Xiaomi’s electric car patent has been approved by The China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA). The Chinese company also obtained a patent for a wide-angle camera module as a replacement for the rearview mirror.
Xiaomi filed a patent for an electric car since 2019. There are no details regarding the release date of this electric vehicle. However, the patent document details the design of an SUV or sedan made by Xiaomi with some modifications.

Xiaomi’s electric car will ditch the traditional rearview mirror. However, the wide-angle camera system will capture wide-angle images and contains several modules. The front of the car has an aerodynamic and sleek design.
The camera is located on the top of the car, including three sensors that provide a comprehensive view of the surroundings.
The smartphone maker has been developing electric cars since early last year. Xiaomi has also accelerated mass production of electric vehicles into the first half of 2024.
“Xiaomi confirmed that they were working on the car earlier this year. CEO Lei Jun said the project had made very good progress recently,” said AutoEvolution, late last year (22/10/2021).
