Xiaomi’s electric vehicle unit reported April deliveries of over 28,000 units, maintaining strong sales momentum even as production capacity continues to limit output.

This performance marked the seventh consecutive month in which Xiaomi EV surpassed the 20,000-unit delivery threshold. However, the figure fell slightly short of March’s reported total of more than 29,000 vehicles. Unlike other Chinese EV makers, Xiaomi has not provided precise delivery numbers in recent months.

The company officially launched its SU7 electric sedan on March 28, 2024. The vehicle, designed to compete with Tesla’s (TSLA.O) Model 3, is available in three versions — Standard, Pro, and Max — with starting prices ranging from RMB 215,900 to RMB 299,900 ($29,690 to $41,300).

Deliveries for the Standard and Max versions began in April, while the Pro variant is scheduled to reach customers beginning in May.

Xiaomi also began delivering the SU7 Ultra, a high-performance version of the sedan with 1,548 Ps of horsepower, in early March.

Priced at RMB 529,900, the model was launched in late February. Looking ahead, Xiaomi is expected to introduce the YU7, an electric SUV targeting Tesla’s Model Y, sometime in mid-2024.
