Xiaomi Auto delivered more than 40,000 vehicles in September, marking its highest monthly delivery volume of the year as the company began deliveries of its newly launched Sky Nomad extended-range electric vehicle lineup.
The automotive unit of Xiaomi announced the figure on Weibo but did not provide an exact monthly total or a breakdown between the SU7 sedan, YU7 SUV and Sky Nomad models. September was the first month in which Xiaomi Auto reported deliveries above 40,000 vehicles in 2026.
Xiaomi Needs Faster Growth to Reach 550,000-Unit Target
Xiaomi Auto delivered at least 286,475 vehicles during the first nine months of the year. That represents approximately 52.1% of the company’s annual target of 550,000 vehicles.
Based on the minimum disclosed figure, Xiaomi Auto would need to deliver roughly 263,525 vehicles during the final three months of the year. That would require an average of about 87,842 vehicles per month from October through December, more than twice the lower bound of the September figure.
The September increase improved Xiaomi Auto’s delivery pace, but reaching the annual target would require a substantial acceleration in production and deliveries during the fourth quarter.
Sky Nomad Adds EREV Models to Xiaomi Lineup
The Sky Nomad series provided a new source of volume in September following its launch on September 7. The lineup represents Xiaomi Auto’s entry into the extended-range electric vehicle segment.
The initial range consists of the five-seat N70 Pro and N70 Max, the seven-seat N90 Max and the five-seat N90 Max Studio. The models expand Xiaomi Auto’s lineup beyond its existing battery-electric SU7 sedan and YU7 SUV.
The Sky Nomad series starts at 209,900 yuan ($31,170). Xiaomi said the models secured more than 10,000 locked-in orders within four minutes of their launch.
The company had also produced an initial batch of vehicles ahead of the launch, allowing customers to receive their vehicles within one to five weeks after locking in an order.
First-Month Sky Nomad Sales Figures Expected in October
Xiaomi Auto Vice President Li Xiaoshuang has previously said the Sky Nomad series attracted strong customer interest and performed well in sales. However, the company has so far disclosed locked-in order figures only once.
Xiaomi founder, chairman and CEO Lei Jun has said the company typically releases sales figures covering a model’s first full month after that period ends. As Sky Nomad deliveries began on September 7, its first-month figures are expected after October 7.
Customers who lock in their orders by October 7 remain eligible for the first-month launch benefits, according to Lei. Those benefits are also scheduled to expire after that date.
Sky Nomad Enters a Challenging EREV Market
The launch comes as Xiaomi enters a segment that has experienced weaker demand in China. According to China Passenger Car Association data, retail sales of extended-range electric vehicles declined 15.85% year on year to 616,000 units during the first eight months of the year.
Xiaomi is nevertheless using the Sky Nomad lineup to target family-oriented buyers with larger SUVs and multiple seating configurations.
The N70 Max offers a CLTC battery-only range of 505 kilometers. The larger N90 Max combines its battery and range-extender system for a claimed CLTC combined range of 1,705 kilometers with a full battery and fuel tank.
Xiaomi Auto Surpasses 800,000 Cumulative Deliveries
Before the Sky Nomad launch, Xiaomi Auto had delivered 246,475 vehicles during the first eight months of the year, representing a 9.65% increase from the same period a year earlier.
Cumulative deliveries reached 797,783 vehicles by the end of August. Lei Jun said on September 7 that the company’s cumulative vehicle deliveries had subsequently surpassed 800,000.
With the addition of the Sky Nomad series, Xiaomi Auto is now expanding across both battery-electric and extended-range vehicles as it seeks to increase deliveries and broaden its customer base during the final quarter of the year.
