Hubject and Windrose Technology have announced a strategic partnership to integrate Plug&Charge authentication into Windrose’s electric trucks, a move aimed at simplifying charging access for heavy-duty electric vehicles operating across global networks.

Under the collaboration, Windrose trucks will support the ISO 15118-20 standard, allowing automatic Plug&Charge authentication when vehicles are connected to compatible charging stations. The system enables the charging process to start securely without the need for RFID cards or mobile applications, while supporting both Combined Charging System (CCS) and the upcoming Megawatt Charging System (MCS) technologies.

Beyond simplifying charging for drivers, the companies said the technology is expected to streamline fleet management operations by enabling automated contract handling and simplified billing across interoperable charging networks. The system uses encrypted end-to-end communication to secure transactions between vehicles and charging infrastructure.

Windrose, a Chinese electric truck manufacturer targeting international markets, has been expanding its footprint in Europe. Earlier this year the company established a presence at the port of Antwerp-Bruges in Belgium, where it plans to assemble trucks for the European market and build research, development and aftersales operations at a facility known as Windrose Park Antwerp.

“At Windrose, we are building electric trucks not only for zero emissions, but for seamless global operations. Plug&Charge under ISO 15118-20 is a critical enabler for long-haul electrification, where uptime, security, and cross-border interoperability are essential,” said Windrose CEO Wen Han, according to the announcement.

Han added that the partnership would allow the company’s trucks to integrate with emerging megawatt charging networks. “By partnering with Hubject, we are ensuring that our trucks integrate securely and seamlessly into global megawatt charging networks, giving fleet operators a charging experience that is as reliable and scalable as their diesel operations today.”

Hubject CEO Christian Hahn said the freight sector presents a major opportunity for transport electrification. “Commercial freight represents one of the most important opportunities in the transition to zero-emission transport. This partnership with Windrose brings Plug&Charge to long-haul trucks, giving fleet operators the automated, secure authentication they need to reduce downtime, simplify operations and keep their fleets moving,” Hahn said.
