Autonomous driving company WeRide has launched eight fully autonomous Robotaxi routes operating 24 hours a day in the heart of Guangzhou, marking a significant step in the commercialization of self-driving mobility services in China.
The network, the first of its kind in a Tier 1 city, connects major landmarks such as Canton Tower, Zhujiang New Town, and key transport hubs including Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport and Guangzhou South Railway Station. Users can book rides via the WeRide Go app, with next-day bookings available from 6 p.m.

WeRide’s new routes cover high-traffic commercial and business zones, including the Canton Fair Complex and Garden Hotel, offering seamless access to vital areas within the city. The service builds on WeRide’s earlier milestones, including the introduction of China’s first paid autonomous ride-hailing operation in Guangzhou in 2019 and recent permits for commercial operations in Beijing.
With over 2,000 days of public operations without safety incidents, WeRide continues to expand its global footprint. The company now operates in 30 cities across 10 countries, supported by partnerships such as its collaboration with Uber. Current operations include Robotaxi services in Abu Dhabi, with plans to launch in Dubai and 15 other cities, including locations in Europe, by 2030.
