WattEV’s Purchase of 14 Nikola Tre BEV Signals Growth in California’s Zero-Emission Transportation Industry

California-based WattEV has announced its purchase of 14 Nikola Tre battery-electric trucks and the corresponding charging infrastructure to support them at the Long Beach port. As a “trucks as a service” provider, WattEV lends its zero-emission vehicles to shippers and fleet operators that adhere to California’s emission standards.

The company is set to launch the first of its four planned truck charging parks this month. These parks will be strategically located near the 710 and 110 freeways leading to the port, where the Nikola trucks will be charged daily. With a range of 350 miles, the Tre is built for local use.

WattEV’s CEO, Salim Youssefzadeh, notes the company’s satisfaction with the energy efficiency and ongoing technical support of the Nikola trucks during a six-month pilot test. Although no specific delivery date was mentioned, both companies confirm an “upcoming sale and delivery.

The partnership between WattEV and Nikola represents a significant milestone for the zero-emission transportation industry, particularly in California, where emission standards are becoming increasingly strict.
