Warburtons, the renowned British bakery brand, has recently bolstered its commitment to sustainable transportation by adding four new E-Tech D16 electric trucks from Renault Trucks to its delivery fleet. This move comes after the successful deployment of their first electric lorry in Enfield. Additionally, two new electric vans have been incorporated into their operations.
The new electric trucks are strategically placed, with one joining the existing Renault lorry in Enfield, and the other three being deployed in Bellshill near Glasgow, Bristol, and Bolton. Furthermore, the two Master E-Tech trucks will serve routes in Enfield and Bristol.

These electric vehicles, sourced from Renault Trucks dealer JDS Trucks & Vans, are E-Tech D16 4×2s equipped with box bodies from Fosters Commercials and tail lifts from Dhollandia. They are powered by an electric motor with a maximum output of 185 kW (130 kW continuous output) and are supported by a 265 kWh battery pack.
While the exact range of the new vehicles configured by Warburtons is not disclosed, Steven Gray, Head of Transport at Warburtons, expressed confidence in the trucks’ ability to handle delivery routes efficiently, particularly since most routes are under 100 miles (around 160 kilometres).

To facilitate charging, Warburtons has installed 22 kW AC charging points from EO Charging at their depot. Although the trucks can also be charged at DC stations with up to 150 kW, the company opted for the more convenient AC charging infrastructure. Details about the configuration of the two Master E-Tech electric transporters are not provided.
The decision to invest in these new electric trucks was influenced by the success of the first 16-tonne electric truck, which instilled confidence in the technology. Warburtons’ careful planning and route analysis for the initial vehicle, along with positive feedback from drivers who quickly overcame any range anxiety, further supported this decision.
