Wallbox has installed 120 electric vehicle (EV) charging points at Montréal Metropolitan Airport’s YHU terminal in partnership with Canadian electrical solutions provider EDP électrique. A further 48 charging points are planned following the completion of a new airport building, bringing the planned network total to 168.
The charging infrastructure is intended for airport employees, operations staff and visitors. It uses Wallbox Pulsar Pro AC chargers and the company’s Power Sharing technology, which distributes available electrical capacity across groups of charging points. This approach allows the site to manage demand through its existing grid connection without requiring every charger to operate at maximum power simultaneously.
The network is connected to Foresta’s charging infrastructure management platform, which supports centralised system management and payment processing.
EDP électrique coordinated the integration of the systems and project partners. Other participants included Foresta, electrical contractor EG Électrique and distributor Westburne.
Wallbox said the installation is designed to accommodate future expansion as demand for EV charging increases. However, the companies have not disclosed the individual power ratings of the chargers or provided a completion date for the additional 48 charging points.
Wallbox Highlights Airport Charging Infrastructure
Ignasi Alastuey, Chief Business Officer at Wallbox, said the project reflects the role of transport hubs in the expansion of EV charging infrastructure.
“Transport hubs such as airports are an important part of the next phase of EV charging infrastructure, where scale, reliability and intelligent energy management become increasingly important,”
Alastuey said.
“Together with edp électrique and the broader project team, we are helping YHU build charging infrastructure that addresses current needs while providing the flexibility to continue expanding as EV adoption grows.”
Sabryna Barabé-Favreau, Sales Representative – Electrical Products at edp électrique, highlighted the coordination required to deliver the installation.
“This project is a strong example of what can be achieved through close collaboration between all stakeholders,”
Barabé-Favreau said.
“By working closely with the airport, Wallbox and the wider project team, we were able to bring together the different components required to deliver a scalable charging infrastructure that meets the customer’s high standards and can continue growing alongside future demand.”
Previous Airport Installation in Munich
Wallbox has also supplied charging infrastructure for Munich Airport in Germany. In 2025, the company installed 275 charging points in an airport car park using its eM4 AC chargers, which offer outputs of up to 22 kW.
The Munich installation is supported by rooftop solar installations with a combined capacity of 3 MW and forms part of the airport’s NetZero 2035 strategy.
The two projects illustrate Wallbox’s involvement in airport charging deployments in North America and Europe, although the specifications and planned capacity differ between the sites.
