All electric car technologies that are part of the Volkswagen ID family have just received the latest software update (21/3).

Named ID. Software 3.0, this technology update is provided for all ID electric cars to improve user experience.

In addition to improving the user experience, this update also optimizes charging capacity and provides new features.

“The new ID software. Software 3.0 is an upgrade for every member of the ID family,” said Thomas Ulbrich, Member of the Board of Management of the Volkswagen brand.

“Our products take functionality to another level as we work faster, more connected, and more consumer-oriented,” added Ulbrich.

So what are the features provided by this latest update? The first is the semi-autonomous integrative feature Travel Assist with Swarm Data.

This feature is similar to Adaptive Cruise Control, but can work with data from other Volkswagen ID cars. This Travel Assist can also learn driving style and can change lanes semi-autonomously.

Then there is Park Assist Plus with Memory Function which is not only capable of semi-autonomous parking, but also “learns” five parking maneuvers performed by the driver.

Not to forget Volkswagen has also improved the augmented reality head-up display and optimized voice control in this latest update.

But the most interesting “feature” of ID. Software 3.0 is a charging optimization for 77 kWh battery variant cars.

If previously it could only be charged with a maximum power of 125 kW, in this new version the charging power increases to 135 kW.

For consumers who want to maintain their battery life, Volkswagen has also pinned the Battery Care mode.

One last feature is the Smart E-Route Planner which is able to calculate long trips as quickly as possible including the estimated charging time.
