Voyah, the new energy vehicle (NEV) brand of Dongfeng Motor, has launched its latest all-electric SUV, the Zhiyin, in China, positioning it as a competitor to Tesla’s Model Y.
The Zhiyin, Voyah’s fourth model, is built on the brand’s next-generation electric vehicle platform, called Courage in international markets, and will also be available for overseas customers.
The Zhiyin is offered in four variants in China, with starting prices ranging from RMB 196,900 ($27,820) to RMB 236,900. Voyah is also offering a limited edition of 3,000 units of the entry-level version for RMB 179,900.
The mid-size SUV measures 4,725 mm in length and features a 2,900 mm wheelbase, comparable to the dimensions of the Tesla Model Y.
The Zhiyin is available in both 800 V and 400 V platform variants, with a choice of single-motor or dual-motor configurations.
The dual-motor version offers a maximum power of 160 kW for each motor and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds. Single-motor options deliver maximum power of 215 kW or 230 kW, with a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time of 6.8 seconds.
The SUV is available with three battery options, ranging from 77 kWh to 109 kWh, offering a range between 570 km and 901 km on the CLTC cycle. The largest battery pack supports rapid charging, enabling the vehicle to charge from 20 percent to 80 percent in just 10 minutes.
Voyah, launched by Dongfeng Motor in late 2020, introduced its first model, the Voyah Free, in June 2021 in China. The Zhiyin marks the brand’s latest step in expanding its presence in both domestic and international markets.
