Dongfeng has officially kicked off the pre-sale phase for its latest venture into the electric vehicle market with the introduction of Nammi 01, a compact, all-electric car set to make waves in China’s small car segment. Priced between 79,800 and 109,800 yuan (approximately 10,250 to 14,100 euros), the Nammi 01 is poised to be a key player in Dongfeng’s ambitious goal to achieve 150,000 electric vehicle sales by 2024, with a further target of 400,000 units by 2025.

Positioned as the flagship model for the newly unveiled Nammi brand, Dongfeng is strategically entering the market with a focus on small electric vehicles. The company aims to capture a significant market share by appealing to female customers, a demographic it has identified as a primary target for the new brand.

The Nammi 01 boasts a 70 kW motor at the front and offers two LFP battery options, with capacities of 31.5 and 42.3 kWh. These battery configurations are anticipated to deliver impressive ranges of 330 and 430 kilometers according to Chinese standards. Notably, quick-charging capabilities enable the vehicle to recharge for a 200-kilometer range in just eight minutes, as per the Chinese test cycle.

Built on the Dongfeng S3 platform, the Nammi 01 stands out with its compact body design, featuring rounded contours, concealed door handles, and frameless front doors. The vehicle’s dimensions measure 4.03 x 1.81 x 1.57 meters, with a wheelbase of 2.66 meters. Practicality is not compromised, as the maximum trunk capacity with rear seats folded down is estimated at 945 liters. Rims are available in 16 or 17 inches, providing consumers with customization options.

While Dongfeng has previously introduced various new energy vehicle (NEV) subsidiaries under its corporate umbrella, including Voyah, M Hero, and eπ, the Nammi brand is positioned as a pivotal player in achieving Dongfeng’s ambitious sales target of one million NEV units by 2025. Despite the potential introduction of new models in the years to come, the Nammi 01 is expected to be a frontrunner in driving the brand’s success in the evolving landscape of electric mobility.
