Volvo Trucks will showcase an expanded range of low- and zero-emission commercial vehicles at IAA Transportation 2026 in Hanover, headlined by an extended-range FH Aero Electric capable of traveling up to 700 kilometres on a single charge.

The exhibition also features an updated D13 diesel engine and a hydrogen combustion truck, highlighting Volvo’s strategy of offering multiple powertrain technologies to support the transition toward sustainable freight transport.

Extended-Range FH Aero Electric Takes Center Stage

The new FH Aero Electric represents Volvo’s latest advancement in battery-electric long-haul trucking, with a claimed driving range of up to 700 kilometres.

The truck is expected to narrow the operational gap between electric and diesel-powered heavy-duty vehicles by allowing longer journeys between charging stops, particularly when combined with mandatory driver rest periods.

Volvo will have two extended-range FH Aero Electric trucks available for demonstration drives during the event.

Hydrogen Truck Joins Multi-Powertrain Lineup

Alongside its battery-electric models, Volvo is also presenting a hydrogen combustion engine truck that is scheduled to enter the market before 2030.

The company will offer demonstration drives of the hydrogen-powered vehicle, allowing customers to evaluate the technology alongside battery-electric alternatives.

The decision to exhibit both powertrains reflects Volvo’s continued investment in multiple low-emission technologies as fleet operators assess future transport solutions for long-distance and heavy-duty applications.

Broad Product and Service Showcase

Volvo’s stand at Hall 11 will feature eight trucks on display, while seven additional vehicles will be available for test drives.

Beyond its vehicle portfolio, the company will also present its wider transport ecosystem, including digital fleet management tools, service contracts, charging infrastructure solutions and support for operators managing mixed fleets.

Volvo noted that its FH Aero family has surpassed 70,000 units sold, while all seven Volvo truck models evaluated by Euro NCAP have received the maximum five-star safety rating.

The company also said its battery-electric truck fleet has now accumulated more than 450 million kilometres of customer operation.

Continued Investment in Future Transport

Roger Alm, President of Volvo Trucks, said the display reflects the company’s long-term commitment to helping customers transition to more sustainable transport.

“With the test-driving track right by our stand, we want to show our new trucks and drivelines at their best – on the road!”

He added:

“We’re very proud and excited to have so much to show our customers and the transport industry. It’s the result of serious investment and our commitment to empowering drivers, customers, and their businesses – not just now but in the future. We’re looking forward to meeting up with all our partners. It’s going to be a great event.”
