Supporting mobility without exhaust emissions, Deutsche Post DHL Group cooperates with Volvo Trucks in a cooperation agreement. DHL had originally planned to use 44 electric commercial vehicles for Volvo trucks as shipping services in the European region.

The 40 electric trucks, namely the Volvo FE and Volvo FL, are used to deliver packages in urban areas. While the electric trucks are large in scope, DHL ensures that they use those that can cross regions, relying on four Volvo FM Electric units in the UK.

“We are committed to meeting our customers’ growing demand for green and sustainable solutions and achieving our long-term goal of being clean and zero-emissions by 2050,” said Pablo Ciano, Executive Vice President for Corporate Development at Deutsche Post DHL Group.

As a logistics service provider, the conversion of vehicle fleets at DHL is an important milestone in helping to reduce CO2 emissions on the road. “Several divisions at DHL will benefit from this agreement with Volvo Trucks,” believes Pablo Ciano.

Roger Alm, President of Volvo Trucks, expressed his appreciation for DHL’s trust in using this Swedish brand. DHL is an important global logistics provider, committed to reducing its impact on climate change. Together we can make a difference for the better. “And I am proud that we will work in a spirit of partnership, aiming to achieve science-based targets to reduce our climate impact,” said Roger.

DHL is not only a consumer, but this collaboration also absorbs Volvo’s technology in electrification. The collaboration includes analysis of Volvo trucks during DHL transport operations, with the goal of successfully expanding electrified transport design solutions.

Volvo Trucks leads the market for electric heavy trucks in Europe, with a market share of 42% in 2021. Since 2019, Volvo Trucks has started serial production of electric trucks, as one of the first truck brands in the world to do so. The company has delivered electric trucks to customers in Europe, North America and Australia.
