Volkswagen has announced the availability of the upgraded Volkswagen ID.3 in the UK market. The new version of the popular electric model features a refreshed design, improved materials, and advanced assist systems. Interested customers can place their orders with Volkswagen UK Retailers starting from Thursday, April 27.
The recently unveiled Volkswagen ID.3 showcases several enhancements and upgrades. The exterior design has been refined, giving the car a more sleek and modern look. Inside, the interior now offers a more luxurious feel and incorporates user-friendly features and state-of-the-art technology.
To emphasize Volkswagen’s commitment to sustainability, the range of exterior color options now includes Dark Olivine Green, and animal-free materials have been utilized throughout the ID.3’s construction, aligning with Volkswagen’s sustainability strategy for its electric ID. family.
In terms of styling improvements, the new ID.3 exhibits a refreshed appearance, particularly at the front end, featuring sharper lines, larger air intakes, and an elongated bonnet achieved by removing the black strip below the windscreen.
The ID.3 is available in two battery sizes and trims: the 58 kWh Pro and the 77 kWh Pro S. The ID.3 Pro S can be rapidly charged from 5 to 80 percent in just 30 minutes, supporting a charging capacity of up to 170 kW. The ID.3 Pro, on the other hand, requires 35 minutes for the same charging range, with a charging capacity of up to 120 kW. The larger battery in the ID.3 Pro S provides an estimated combined WLTP range of up to 559 km (347 miles).
The introduction of option packs is a notable addition to the new model. These packs allow customers to select popular options that suit their personal preferences. For example, the Exterior Pack offers new two-part LED tail light clusters on the tailgate in place of reflectors.
Volkswagen has taken customer feedback into account when designing the interior of the ID.3, resulting in a luxurious finish throughout the cabin with soft, foam-backed touch points. Notably, the interior is entirely animal-free, with the use of Artvelours Eco microfiber material for the door trims and seat covers. This material is made from 71 percent recyclate, derived from recycled plastic waste.
Regarding paint and trim design, the new color option, Dark Olivine Green, represents exclusivity and premium value. The iridescent metallic paint can change its appearance depending on lighting conditions, ranging from an earthy green to a warm golden glow or a sophisticated grey. The roof is completely black, and the roof trim strip is finished in high-quality matt silver, enhancing the overall paint color.
Phil Taylor, Head of Product Planning at Volkswagen UK, expressed enthusiasm for the new ID.3, stating, “The new ID.3 marks the next exciting step in Volkswagen’s electrification journey. This fantastic car, with its numerous improvements, demonstrates clearly our commitment to value, design, and sustainability.”
The ID.3 is the first vehicle to be built on the modular electric drive (MEB) platform developed by the Volkswagen Group. The ID. family in the UK now includes other models such as the ID.4, ID.5, and ID. Buzz, with more models expected to launch soon, including the ID.7 and a production version of the ID.2all concept. Volkswagen has already delivered over 600,000 ID. models to customers worldwide.
The new Volkswagen ID.3 is priced from £37,115 (recommended retail price including VAT, on the road) and can be purchased through Volkswagen UK Retailers.
