Volkswagen has introduced the latest addition to its GTX lineup with the ID. Buzz GTX, marking the final GTX version of its ID. models in Europe. The electric van, known for its practicality and iconic design reminiscent of the legendary Bulli, now embraces a sporty edge with the GTX treatment.

Equipped with the latest MEB drive generation, the ID. Buzz GTX boasts a system output of 250 kW, utilizing the new APP550 rear motor with 210 kW and 560 Nm of torque, complemented by an 80 kW AKA150 asynchronous motor on the front axle. This all-wheel-drive system enables the sporty Buzz to accelerate to 100 kph in 6.5 seconds, promising “optimum traction on any surface,” according to VW Commercial Vehicles.

The ID. Buzz GTX features a slightly improved 79 kWh battery, akin to the one in the ID.3 GTX, offering faster charging capabilities. The standard wheelbase model can tow up to 1,800 kilograms, while the long wheelbase variant retains a towing capacity of 1,600 kilograms, making it an “electric towing vehicle for bikes, boats, or horse trailers,” as per VW.

Charging the 79 kWh battery can be done at up to 185 kW, taking 26 minutes to charge from 10 to 80 percent. The long-wheelbase version, equipped with an 86 kWh battery, can be charged at up to 200 kW, promising a similar charging time.

Externally, the GTX Buzz is distinguished by its redesigned bumper, black ventilation grille, redesigned daytime running lights, unique wheel rims, and GTX logos. Inside, the van features a sporty design with dark colors, adjustable comfort seats with memory function, and a 12.9-inch touchscreen, along with ChatGPT integration in the infotainment system.

The ID. Buzz GTX is set to launch in the second half of the year, with pre-sales starting in the summer. Pricing details will be revealed closer to the launch date.
