Volkswagen Group unveils their first electric sedan ID. AERO in China on Monday. ID. The AERO will go into production for the Chinese market in the second half of 2023. The fully-electric four-door production model will be offered worldwide in the future in the premium mid-size segment
The electric vehicle manufacturer said the ID electric sedan. Aero’s estimated range of up to 385 miles based on the initial European WLTP test cycle has not yet revealed its official price.
“The ID. AERO belongs to the high-volume, mid-size sedan segment,â Dr. Stephan Wöllenstein, CEO of Volkswagen China Passenger Cars Brand, said in a statement. âThe concept has a progressive, stylish and aerodynamic design, yet doesn’t compromise on roominess.â

In the Chinese market, this electric sedan is targeting young buyers who are buying a car for the first time.
ID design. The AERO silhouette features a coupe-style rear three-quarters and a wide body and a drag coefficient of 0.23.
ID. AERO uses high-end headlights, LED taillight clusters and a glossy black roof to create a luxurious feel.
ID electric sedan. AERO uses the MEB (Modular Electric Drive Matrix) platform from the Volkswagen Group. This platform is also used to build Volkswagen’s electric vehicle portfolio including ID. Buzz which was just introduced to the public some time ago.
ID electric sedan production. AERO for the European market will be carried out at the Emden plant in 2023.
The flexible MEB platform can be adapted to a variety of vehicles, from hatchbacks to vans.
Approximately 30% of VW Group EVs use the MEB Platform. Volkswagen expects that share to jump to more than 80% by 2025.
