Volkswagen has introduced the ID.7 GTX as the sporty flagship model in its electric vehicle range, featuring powerful all-wheel drive and a larger battery. Alongside the GTX variant, Volkswagen will offer the new 86-kWh battery option for the regular ID.7 starting Thursday.

Initially announced at the world premiere of the ID.7 in April 2023, the 86-kWh battery was expected to provide a range of up to 700 kilometers. However, only the ID.7 Pro with the 77-kWh battery and a range of 615 kilometers was available for order.

This changes with the availability of the ID.7 Pro S, which offers a WLTP range of 709 kilometers and starts at €58,985, as well as the ID.7 Tourer Pro S with a WLTP range of 690 kilometers, available from €59,785. Both models feature a 210 kW rear-wheel drive system, positioning them in the range spectrum of models with combustion engines, according to VW.

The ID.7 GTX, available as a saloon and Tourer, features the same drive system as the Tourer, with a pure all-wheel-drive configuration boasting 250 kW system output. The GTX models also come equipped with the new 86-kWh battery, providing a range of 595 kilometers for the Saloon and 585 kilometers for the Tourer.

With a maximum charging power of 200 kW, the ID.7 GTX can be charged from ten to 80 percent in approximately 26 minutes. AC charging with 11 kW takes just under eight hours for a full charge from zero to 100 percent. The 250 kW all-wheel drive enables the ID.7 GTX to accelerate to 100 kph in 5.4 seconds, making it the most powerful MEB saloon from Volkswagen to date.

Visually, the ID.7 GTX features design elements inspired by the GTI combustion engines, with redesigned front and rear aprons, honeycomb-look lower front grille, and GTX-typical light graphics in the headlights. The interior boasts GTX features such as heated seats with red contrasting stitching and perforated GTX lettering in the backrests, as well as a multifunction steering wheel with red accents.
