ā€œThe production of the ID Buzz at the VWN plant in Hanover has restarted as scheduled on 4 July 2022,ā€ a company spokesperson told Automobilwoche.

Volkswagen said the problem had been identified and fixed. Now the new battery that will be used meets Volkswagen’s quality standards.

Previously, Volkswagen had suspended production of ID. Buzz in Hanover for a week. The suspension was due to battery quality issues wherein some cell modules did not provide the desired performance.

Problems in the battery create a voltage drop, which reduces the range and can negatively impact its life.

The problematic battery cells are from a new supplier and only affect the Hanover plant and not other MEB factories. In Zwickau and Emden battery cells from LGES from the Wroclaw factory were installed.

Volkswagen has produced 500 ID units. Buzz, but not yet delivered to subscribers. The initial production vehicle will be used as a demonstration car for dealers and a test car.
