Volkswagen (VW) is lowering prices on its ID range of battery-electric vehicles in specific European countries, including France, Belgium, Italy, Norway, and Sweden. This strategic move is aimed at stimulating sales, despite VW’s earlier stance that it would not engage in the pricing strategies reminiscent of Tesla’s approach in the previous year. VW stated that these adjustments “will enable us to achieve our ambitious business goals.”
As a result of the new pricing, almost all versions of the ID.3, ID.4, and ID.5 now qualify for government electric vehicle incentives ranging from ā¬5,000 to ā¬7,000 (~$5,400 to ~$7,600) in France. VW has also introduced new ID and Life Max trim levels, leading to revised starting prices for the ID.3, ID.4, and ID.5 models.

For example, the entry model ID.3 is now priced at $43,812 (39,990 euros), down from $47,067 (42,990 euros). The ID.4 is now available from $48,194 (43,990 euros), and the ID.5 starts at $55,326 (50,500 euros). Additionally, the new ID.5 Life Max model begins at $56,384 (51,500 euros), representing a reduction of about $8,800 (8,000 euros) compared to the roughly equivalent 2023 Pro Performance model, while offering enhanced standard equipment.
Similar adjustments have been made in Norway, where the ID.3 now starts at $34,500 (358,000 Norwegian Krona), down from over $48,000. In Italy, VW has introduced Pro Edition Plus versions of the ID.3, ID.4, and ID.5, priced $1,095 higher than the old Pro versions but including $10,733 worth of additional standard equipment.
Changes have also been implemented in Belgium and Sweden. In Belgium, the ID.3 and ID.4 now start at $43,797 and $43,424, respectively, to qualify for an EV bonus of $5,476 in the Flanders region. New entry-level versions of VW’s ID models have been introduced in Sweden.
