Volkswagen has released official images of its ID.Unyx 08 full-size electric SUV, showcasing its bold design and three-row seating ahead of its expected launch in China.
The SUV, produced by the Volkswagen-Anhui joint venture, recently appeared in the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s (MIIT) latest catalog of vehicles awaiting sales approval, a final step before commercial release.

The ID.Unyx 08 is based on Xpeng’s G9 platform and incorporates the company’s Connectivity and Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) software. Volkswagen and Xpeng announced plans last year to co-develop two Volkswagen-branded models, with production scheduled to begin in 2026.
Official photos highlight the SUV’s wide headlight clusters, long hood, and a horizontal bar beneath the windshield. The ID.Unyx 08 measures 5,000 mm in length, 1,954 mm in width, and 1,688 mm in height, with a 3,030 mm wheelbase, making it larger in all dimensions than the Xpeng G9. Curb weight ranges from 2,191 to 2,360 kg, and the SUV has a top speed of 200 km/h.

The SUV uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries supplied by CATL. According to the ID.Unyx brand’s WeChat account, the vehicle supports 800-volt fast charging, offers a CLTC-rated range of up to 700 km, and includes L2++ ADAS along with over-the-air (OTA) software updates.
