Volkswagen Group of America has made its return to the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas after a six-year absence, debuting a close-to-production version of its first fully electric sedan.

This new member of the ID. family was previewed by the Volkswagen ID. Aero concept, shown in June. The sedan has been officially named the Volkswagen ID.7, leading to speculation that the estate version may be called the ID.7 Tourer.

Although the ID.7 is being shown at CES in camouflage, Volkswagen has stated that the series production version will be unveiled in the second quarter of 2023.

“With the new ID.7, we are extending our electric model range into the upper segments. The sedan will offer top-class technology and quality. The ID.7 is one of ten new electric models that we are planning to launch by 2026. Our goal? To deliver suitable products for our customers in every single segment,”. said Thomas Schäfer, CEO of Volkswagen Passenger Cars

The Volkswagen ID.7 is the sixth model in the company’s lineup to be based on the modular electric drive matrix (MEB), following the ID.3, ID.4, ID.5, ID.6 (China only), and ID. Buzz.

According to Volkswagen, the ID.7 is expected to have a driving range of 700 kilometers (435 miles) in Europe, making it the most efficient and longest-range model in the ID. family. No preliminary numbers for the EPA test cycle are currently available. The ID.7’s long range suggests that it will be equipped with a large battery pack.

The interior of the Volkswagen ID.7, which was presented at CES, is particularly noteworthy due to the various features that will be standard on the car. Responding to customer feedback, Volkswagen has included a new display concept with an augmented reality head-up display and a 15-inch screen, as well as illuminated touch sliders. This setup is expected to be quite innovative.
