Volkswagen proves that it is very serious in the development of electric cars in the world. Proven to take several strategic steps, such as partnering with Canadian quantum technology company Xanadu.
The purpose of this partnership is to build a research program to improve the performance of quantum algorithms in order to simulate battery materials, which will be implemented in electric vehicles.
In addition, what is interesting about this collaboration is that it aims to develop battery materials that are safer, lighter and more cost-effective.
“This new strategy will explore value chain opportunities for electric vehicle batteries with electrochemical processes that are key ingredients for the next generation,” said Volkswagen Group Innovation head Dr. Nikolai Ardey
He further said that this partnership could also bring about a new revolution in materials and optimization of electric batteries for Volkswagen. And can solve problems that will have a significant impact.
The partnership with Xanadu supports the automaker’s goal of being a data and software-driven sustainable mobility provider.
“Our partnership with Xanadu is a great example of Volkswagen’s commitment to leveraging innovative technologies such as quantum computing to accelerate towards 100 percent electric mobility solutions,” said Dr. Arne-Christian Voigt of Future Research at Volkswagen AG.
Of course, this step confirms Volkswagen to compete in the EV segment which is the focus of every automotive manufacturer in the world.
