VinFast has unveiled the EC Van (E-City Van), a small electric cargo van designed to meet the growing demand for eco-friendly business and public transport solutions in Vietnam. This launch reflects the company’s continued focus on expanding its electric vehicle offerings for diverse commercial applications in its home market.
The EC Van measures 3.8 meters long, 1.7 meters wide, and 1.8 meters tall, with a 2.5-meter wheelbase. Its compact size and tight turning radius of just 5.1 meters make it well-suited for maneuvering through congested city streets and narrow rural roads. Inside, the van features two front seats and a spacious, windowless cargo area offering 2,600 liters of storage space, capable of carrying loads up to 600 kilograms.
Powered by a rear-axle electric motor delivering 30 kW and 110 Nm of torque, the EC Van reaches a top speed of 75 km/h. It uses a 17 kWh battery pack—likely lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry—that supports fast charging at up to 19.4 kW, enabling a recharge from 10% to 70% in approximately 42 minutes. Safety and convenience features include ABS, EBD, traction control, and emergency stop signal, with air conditioning available as an option.
VinFast has priced the EC Van at 285 million Vietnamese dong (around €9,900), offering a five-year/130,000 km vehicle warranty alongside a seven-year/160,000 km battery warranty. Orders open on 25 May, with a 10 million dong (€350) discount for deposits placed by 30 May. Customer deliveries are expected to begin in November.
This release marks VinFast’s sixth electric vehicle for service use introduced in Vietnam this year. Earlier launches included the EB 6 small bus and a ‘Green’ passenger vehicle lineup introduced in January, featuring the Minio micro hatchback, Herio and Nerio SUVs (based on the VF 5 and VF e34), and a Limo MPV—demonstrating VinFast’s broadening electric mobility portfolio across passenger and commercial segments.
