VinFast employs an additional 8,000 employees for its electric vehicle factory in Haiphong, Vietnam. The addition of this employee is done to increase production of their electric SUV which will be sent to the United States by the end of this year.
VinFast currently employs 6,000 people in total. According to the company’s post on a verified Facebook account, the new hire is for VinFast’s production expansion.
“The new staff, including assembly workers, technicians and engineers, will start work from August and September.”
The EV factory in Haiphong has a production capacity of up to 250,000 cars per year. VinFast targets to increase the factory’s production capacity to 600,000 by 2026.
Previously, VinFast announced that it would build its first automotive plant in North Carolina with an initial capacity of 150,000 EVs per year. The EV plant in North Carolina is said to create 7,500 jobs.
VinFast aims to sell 750,000 EVs per year by 2026 with the VF8 and VF9 electric SUVs.
The company said it had nearly 8,000 orders in the United States and aims to ship the VF8 model from its factory in Haiphong to the United States before the end of the year.
