Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturers VinFast and Renesas Electronics Corporation, a major supplier of Japanese advanced semiconductor solutions, are expanding their partnership to develop EV technology.
Renesas will provide a product lineup that will include SoCs, microcontrollers, analogues and power semiconductors.
Quoted from Vietnam News, Wednesday (28/9/2022) Renesas will also provide technical support to assist VinFast in developing automotive applications and mobility services in the future.
By gaining access to Renesas’ leading technology and expertise in the automotive industry, VinFast will accelerate the development of new EVs and market expansion with the aim of aggressively increasing its annual production and sales.
The two companies will regularly share product development roadmaps, market trends and requirements, project implementation progress, and new cooperation opportunities.
âVinFast is on a journey of worldwide market expansion and mass production to ensure the highest vehicle performance and on-time delivery to customers,â said Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy, vice chairman of Vingroup and CEO of VinFast Global.
“This new partnership with Renesas will provide VinFast with access to advanced in-vehicle semiconductor technology as well as a high level of system expertise, with the aim of accelerating the development of safe and advanced EVs for the global market.”
Renesas President and CEO Hidetoshi Shibata said his company will be committed to supporting local industries in Vietnam through talent development and business expansion.
âThe collaboration with VinFast strengthens our commitment. We are excited to join VinFast’s journey for their global growth outside of Vietnam. By making EVs more widely available, I believe we can create environmentally friendly, safe and sustainable transportation,â said Hidetoshi Shibata.
Previously, VinFast and Renesas had collaborated on the Renesas automotive infotainment system, SoC (System-on-Chips), R-Car. Later, Renesas analog products have also been implemented in VinFast’s new VF8 and VF9 EV models.
