In addition to the order for 31 Mercedes eCitaro announced in early November, the Danish bus operator, Vikingbus has also ordered 45 MAN Lion’s City 12 E fleets which will later be placed on routes in Greater Copenhagen.
It is known that Vikingbus is one of the new players on a number of bus routes in the cities of Copenhagen, Frederiksberg, Lyngby, Greve and Hoje Taastrup. Delivery of electric buses from MAN will start in spring 2023.
Vikingbus is also known to have experience with MAN electric buses when providing 12 e-buses on routes in Odder and Skanderborg in 2021 and 2022 and orders for MAN e-buses in Copenhagen have landed in April 2021. This bus model has just been selected as the âBus of The Year 2023″.
Manager of Tender Fleet & PTA Citybus MAN Denmark, Jesper Mathiesen revealed that his party had concluded an agreement with Vikingbus Denmark to deliver the bus, both parties confirmed the longstanding cooperation.
âIt would be very interesting for us to have so many electric buses on the streets of Greater Copenhagen and the adjacent suburbs. So many buses on the way back to Vikingbus require good cooperation and 100 percent focus from both parties so that getting the vehicle on the road by the agreed deadline,” said Jesper in his statement.
It is known that currently a number of electric bus models are already operating or have been contracted in the Copenhagen, Denmark area, namely the Yutong, BYD, Ebusco and VDL electric buses.
The MAN Lion’s City 12 E electric bus is equipped with an NMC lithium ion battery type with a capacity of 480 kWh and is capable of traveling as far as 350 km. This bus has a torque of 2,100 Nm. For passenger capacity, MAN claims this low deck bus can fit up to 104 passengers.
Based on the official MAN Truck and Bus website, this fleet has a length of 12.2 meters, the MAN Lion’s City 12 E uses an electric central motor engine.
