Verge Next, the technology division of Finnish-Estonian company Verge Motorcycles, has unveiled a new modular platform designed to help other manufacturers enter the electric mobility market more easily and affordably. The system, centered around Verge’s signature “donut” motor, is tailored for small electric two-wheelers and is intended to accelerate the wider transition to zero-emission transport.

The new platform, which will make its public debut at the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan from November 4 to 9, features a compact 12-inch “donut” motor available in multiple power levels ranging from 2 to 15 kW and delivering torque between 80 and 350 Newton meters. Verge says the motor’s design has been optimized for smaller e-scooters while maintaining high efficiency and power density.

In addition to the motor, the modular platform includes optional battery modules, control software, and rider display systems. Manufacturers can choose to integrate the entire package or only specific components, depending on their production needs. This flexible approach, Verge says, is key to lowering costs and shortening development timelines for new electric two-wheelers.

Tuomo Lehtimäki, CEO of Verge Motorcycles, said industry response has been strong since the unit launched earlier this year. “We launched the Verge Next unit last spring and have already received dozens of inquiries from companies interested in using the devices and technologies we have developed,” he said. “We have already started working with some partners, and some of our customers report that they will be integrating our solutions into their upcoming models in the near future.”

The Verge Next initiative marks a strategic expansion for Verge Motorcycles, best known for its high-performance hubless electric motorcycles. By offering modular technology to external partners, the company hopes to broaden its role in shaping the global electric mobility ecosystem.
