Unplugged Performance has unveiled a new rear aerodynamic upgrade for the 2024 and newer Tesla Model 3, claiming the component can generate more than 500 pounds of downforce at high speed while remaining suitable for everyday road use.

The ASCENSION-RR Rear Carbon Fiber Wing, developed by Unplugged Performance, is designed to counteract rear lift created by the Model 3’s fastback roofline. According to the company, the wing produces 525 pounds (2,332 newtons) of rear downforce at 150 mph, increasing rear-axle tire loading during high-speed driving.

When paired with Unplugged Performance’s full carbon-fiber aerodynamic package for the Model 3 Performance, total downforce reaches 710 pounds, with a front-to-rear aerodynamic balance of 46/54. The company said the configuration aligns with the chassis dynamics of the performance-oriented sedan and transforms the vehicle from producing slight lift at speed to a coefficient of lift of 0.48.

The wing was developed using computational fluid dynamics analysis and validated through real-world track testing, Unplugged Performance said. It features adjustable angle settings, allowing drivers to prioritize either efficiency or maximum grip. A 0-degree setting is intended for reduced drag in street or high-speed driving, while a 4-degree configuration is aimed at track use, where maximum downforce is required.

An optional gurney flap, sold separately, can be added to further improve airflow attachment and pressure recovery at the trailing edge, increasing the wing’s overall effectiveness, the company said.

The ASCENSION-RR wing is compatible with all 2024+ Model 3 variants, including Performance, Long Range and Rear-Wheel Drive models. The kit includes the carbon-fiber wing element, matching stands and mounting hardware. Unplugged Performance said initial production units are now shipping, with the wing priced at $2,495.

The company also confirmed that a Model S-specific version of the rear wing is currently under development as it continues to expand its aerodynamic product lineup for Tesla vehicles.
