UK Government announce consultation on ban new internal combustion motorcycles sales By 2035

On 14 July 2022, the UK government announced consultations on plans for ending the sales of non-zero-emission L-category vehicles. This plan includes motorcycles, mopeds and quads.

The ban on internal combustion engine motors is expected to encourage most consumers to switch to electric vehicles. In addition, the climate problem that hit the UK is also the reason why this regulation was issued.

As is known, on July 19, 2022, London recorded its hottest day with temperatures reaching 40.3 degrees Celsius. This heatwave has sparked wildfires across the UK and many attribute the event to extreme weather due to air pollution from vehicles.

The UK government launched a public consultation on 14 July and will conclude on 21 September 2022. The UK government will analyze the data and publish a summary of its findings within three months.

After that, the government will determine the next steps and set another tipping point in Europe’s transition from fossil fuels to green energy.
