TravelCenters of America (TA), the largest full-service truck stop and travel center publicly traded, partners with Electrify America to install DC fast charging stations along major highways. The goal is to keep up with the rapidly growing number of EVs on the road.
Electric vehicle sales hit a record high last year, with over 800,000 new EVs sold, up 65% from the previous year, according to Kelley Blue Book. The demand for zero-emission EVs is at an all-time high.
As the number of EVs on the road increases, so does the need for charging infrastructure. Although most charging is done at home, more public charging stations give EV drivers peace of mind for long trips and highway travel.

Electrify America operates a significant DC fast-charging network in the United States, boasting 3,435 fast-charging stations spread across 791 locations, according to their official website. The company sets itself apart from other publicly accessible EV charging stations with its Ultra-Fast 150 kW and Hyper-Fast 350 kW options, providing some of the quickest charging speeds available. These high-speed charging options make Electrify America an ideal choice for deployment along major highways and other busy public areas.
TravelCenters and Electrify America are joining forces to introduce electric vehicle (EV) charging at a select number of TA/Petro locations. The two companies aim to install approximately 1,000 chargers at 200 highway locations in the next five years, with the first stations rolling out in the coming months.
President and CEO of Electrify America praised the company’s new partnership, saying:
Electrify America is pleased to collaborate with an industry leader like TravelCenters of America to provide the critical infrastructure needed for EV drivers of today and tomorrow. Our combined strengths allow us to take bigger steps toward our shared vision of a more sustainable future.
Electrify America will be responsible for the installation and maintenance of the infrastructure while TravelCenters will benefit from the visibility of being part of Electrify America’s charging network. This will enable EV drivers to locate the charging stations via Electrify America’s mobile app.
Moreover, the newly established network of charging stations will cater to a wide range of EV models, ensuring that the majority of drivers will have access to the facilities.
