Transport UK London Bus has deployed 13 new Alexander Dennis Enviro100EV zero-emission buses on route G1 between Battersea and Streatham, expanding the capital’s fleet of electric vehicles.

The single-deckers, at 8.5 metres long and 2.35 metres wide, are designed for narrow roads and tight turns along the 10-mile route. Each bus is powered by a 354 kWh battery from Impact Clean Power Technology and fitted with a Voith electric drive system, giving them a range of up to 450 kilometres on a single charge, according to the manufacturer.

Neil Gladstone, National Account Manager for Alexander Dennis, said: “Our Enviro100EV is perfect for this kind of Transport for London route and it is great to see them bringing accessible, zero-emission transport to communities in South London.”

Paul Hennigan, Fleet and Facilities Director for Transport UK London Bus, described the new fleet as “a bespoke zero-emission vehicle for a unique service, with impressive colleague feedback.”

Transport for London said the additions reflect wider efforts to electrify the city’s bus network. Lorna Murphy, Director of Buses at TfL, said: “These buses demonstrate the very best of British manufacturing, meeting the design challenge of building a bus that can negotiate the narrow streets on this route and helping to contribute to the wider effort greening the whole bus network.”
