Toyota unveils 2023 Prius hybrid with more power, range, style

The All New Toyota Prius makes its global debut in Japan today, Wednesday, November 16 2022. The latest generation of the Prius comes in two models, namely the Parallel Hybrid (HEV) series which was released this winter and the Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) series which release in spring 2023.

Launching the official Toyota Global website, the Toyota Prius, known as the Hybrid Reborn, inherits the monoform silhouette typical of the Prius, but returns with more stylish proportions. In addition, the new Prius’s center of gravity is also lower with the use of 19-inch diameter wheels on the second generation TNGA platform.

The rear of the car features taillights that extend from left to right. While the front features sharp headlights and an air grille at the bottom with chrome accents.

The interior comes with black color throughout and an integrated instrument panel, as well as stitching on the seats. In addition, this sedan is also equipped with Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) safety technology.

The Prius PHEV carries a 2,000cc Dynamic Force Engine combined with a Lithium-ion battery capable of producing 223 PS of power. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km per hour can be completed in 6.7 seconds.

This latest generation is also claimed to be able to cover a distance of about 50 percent further than the previous model. Weight improvements in battery performance, the new Prius can operate in EV mode only for everyday use.

While in the HEV version, there are two engine options, namely 1,800cc with 150 PS and 2,000cc with 193 PS. In this version, the Toyota Prius comes with the latest E-Four system which offers high performance when crossing roads with low friction such as snow-covered tracks and is able to provide good stability when on turning roads.

The new All New Toyota Prius will be marketed in Japan early next year. After that, this sedan will also be launched in several other countries in the world such as North America, Europe and other countries. In Japan, this car is also offered through the KINTO subscription service.
