Toyota bZ4X will not be sold in Japan, offered via Kinto subscription service

Production for Toyota’s first battery electric car, the bZ4X will begin around April 2022. However, this model will not be mass-sold in the Japanese market, and instead this eco-friendly SUV will be offered to consumers via the Kinto subscription service.

Disitat from Asia Nikkei from Paultan, Friday (25/2/2022), this sale will occur as early as May or June 2022. In addition, the Toyota bZ4X is available to corporate customers through other leasing, including Rent-a-Lease dealers.

According to the report, the brand’s decision not to sell its vehicles through domestic dealers reflects the fact that consumers in Japan have been slow to accept electric vehicles due to high prices, as well as the lack of charging stations in the Land of the Rising Sun.

Electric vehicles rarely appear on the used car market in Japan, as battery damage weighs on resale value, the report added. The subscription service will allow drivers to try bZ4X every month without worrying about whether it will maintain the value added.

For information, Toyota, has prepared the Toyota bZ4X in two variants that are distinguished based on the driving performance, namely 2WD and 4WD.

In 2WD drive, this model is equipped with front-wheel drive and is armed with a single electric motor mounted on the front axle. The power produced in this model is capable of producing 201 hp and 265 Nm of torque.
