The City of Toronto is teaming up with the government of Canada to add over 500 new electric vehicle chargers to the city’s corporate charging network, aiming to enhance accessibility and support the adoption of electric vehicles.
By the end of 2025, electric vehicle drivers commuting to work in Toronto can expect to utilize 486 new Level 2 chargers and 40 fast chargers. This infrastructure expansion is made possible by a joint investment of $10 million from the City of Toronto and the Government of Canada.
The new charging infrastructure will facilitate the City’s workplace charging program expansion, with some chargers also designated for public use.
Julie Dzerowicz, Member of Parliament for Davenport, highlighted the broader benefits of the initiative, stating, “We’re creating economic opportunities and sustainable jobs across the country.” She emphasized that transitioning to electric vehicles not only saves money but also reduces pollution, aligning with national targets for zero-emission vehicle sales by 2035.
