Tim Hortons said it has partnered with FLO, a North American electric vehicle (EV) charging company, to install fast chargers at 100 of its Canadian restaurants by 2028, positioning the chain as the country’s largest restaurant provider of public EV fast charging.
The first FLO Ultra™ chargers have already been installed at a Tim Hortons location in Regina, Saskatchewan, with up to 13 more sites expected by the end of 2025. By 2026, around 50 restaurants will feature chargers, with an average of four ports at each location, the company said.
“Whether it’s grabbing a coffee and a charge before work or taking a break on a road trip, we want every Tims Run to be welcoming,” said Hope Bagozzi, Chief Marketing Officer at Tim Hortons.
FLO, based in Quebec, will supply its Ultra chargers, which can deliver up to 120 kilometers of range in about 10 minutes, depending on the vehicle and station configuration. The company said its network maintains over 98% uptime and is supported by a $235 million investment from the Canada Infrastructure Bank.
“This partnership with Tim Hortons marks a pivotal moment in making EV charging a seamless part of everyday life for Canadians,” said Louis Tremblay, President and CEO of FLO.
By 2028, the companies plan to offer EV fast charging at Tim Hortons locations across all 10 Canadian provinces, enabling coast-to-coast accessibility. Ehren Cory, CEO of the Canada Infrastructure Bank, said the project “uniquely supports the large-scale deployment of charging stations, helping to address drivers’ range anxiety.”
Tim Hortons operates nearly 4,000 restaurants in Canada, giving the rollout potential for wide reach as EV adoption in the country accelerates.
