Thai electric vehicle charging provider Sharge has partnered with ride-hailing company Grab to develop a dedicated EV charging network for Grab drivers in Thailand, committing more than 400 million baht ($10.7 million) to the project, the companies said.
Under an initial pilot programme, Sharge will install three Grab-exclusive charging stations — at Suvarnabhumi Airport, Don Mueang Airport, and in Pattaya. More than 60% of Grab drivers operating in these areas have already adopted electric vehicles, according to the companies.

Sharge plans to scale the network to 40 charging stations by 2027 across Thailand’s major economic and tourist hubs, with sites reserved exclusively for Grab drivers. Each station will feature 12 fast chargers capable of supporting up to 700 charging sessions per day, with full charging times of around 20 minutes. Pricing will start at 6 baht per kilowatt-hour, below prevailing public rates of 6.4 to 7.6 baht per kWh, aiming to reduce operating costs for drivers.
“Our collaboration with Sharge addresses drivers’ challenges around charging accessibility and encourages more drivers to confidently transition to EVs,” said Parichat Sriwilai, deputy director of driver management at Grab Thailand. She said faster charging and predictable access would enable drivers to operate more efficiently and sustainably.

The charging initiative supports Grab’s broader electrification push across Southeast Asia. Grab currently operates more than 10,000 EVs in Thailand and in January said it plans to induct 20,000 electric vehicles from Guangzhou Automobile Group (GAC) into its ride-hailing fleet, marking a significant expansion of its EV footprint in the region.
The move builds on earlier partnerships. Last year, Grab said it would extend its collaboration with BYD to roll out up to 50,000 EVs across Southeast Asia, including Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. The programme features multiple BYD models, including the Denza D9, Atto 3, Seal and M6.
On the consumer side, Grab has been promoting electric mobility through its in-app “Grab EV Rides” preference, which allows users to prioritise EV bookings without a surcharge. The company said usage of the feature increased by 58% in 2025, reflecting rising consumer demand for lower-emission transport options.
