Moment Motor Company initiates its design process with a meticulous analysis of each vehicle, utilizing state-of-the-art computer-aided design (CAD) imaging to create a 3D model. This model forms the basis for an EV conversion plan that prioritizes maintaining the weight balance and handling characteristics of the original vehicle.
For the 280SL, the conversion includes a 62 kWh battery pack offering a 175-mile range. The electric drivetrain features a three-phase permanent magnet motor delivering 300 hp and 370 lb-ft of torque. The vehicle also receives electrified brakes, steering, heating, and air conditioning, along with updated gauges that maintain a classic appearance.
Marc Davis notes, “While the passion for these vehicles has endured throughout the decades, their functionality hasn’t stood the test of time.” The company’s design process aims to offer collectors the opportunity to convert rarely used but highly celebrated vehicles into everyday electric drivetrain-equipped cars.
